Work On Fitness To Improve Your Surfing
We all know that sport is good for our health but just how good are certain sports. This article will look at surfing to see what this sport offers in the way of fitness. Most people will find that surfing is harder work than they first thought. The first thing that comes to most people's minds when they think of surfing is a nice relaxing day down the beach. Quite the opposite really as paddling against large wave will soon leave you exhausted. In general there are five main areas of fitness when it comes to surfing. Additionally in order to improve as a surfer focusing on these five areas will really help you to progress.
As with many other similar sports keeping a good level of cardio fitness will be essential when surfing. Spending a lot of time in the water requires a lot of endurance and is a key point to consider when surfing. Running and swimming will also help you to improve in this area of fitness. 30 minutes is the recommended daily amount of cardio work that you should be doing.
Next up is your core strength. The core is your back and abdominal muscles. This is a very important area of your fitness that will improve as a result of surfing. A strong core will assist you when it comes to tackling the waves on a daily basis.
As you can tell by now a huge part of fitness is to do with paddling. Nearly all people would say that paddling is one of the most fitness requiring areas of the sport.
As well being flexible and stretching is going to be a benefit. Being flexible is in fact a good way to improve your balance whilst surfing.
Squats are a good way to keep your lower body in good shape. This is going to be essential if you fall off now and then as you will want to easily be able to swim back to shore.

**American now Youngest ****to win on 2 tours**
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- American **Lexi Thompson**, 16, made history as
the youngest winner on both the LPGA and Ladies European Tours.
Thompson shot 5-under 67 Saturday to win the Dubai Ladies Masters, becoming
the youngest professional winner on that side of the Atlantic.
Thompson pulled away from **Lee-Anne Pace** to win by four strokes for her
second professional victory. In September, Thompson became the youngest winner
of an LPGA event at the Navistar LPGA Classic.
"It feels amazing," said Thompson, who finished at 15-under 273. " … I've been
working on my game really hard, and it has paid off."
**Thailand Championship:** Masters champion **Charl Schwartzel** shot his
second straight 6-under 66 to move four strokes behind **Lee Westwood** in
Bangkok. Westwood led by 11 strokes after two rounds but shot 1-over 73 to
leave him at 19-under 197.
**Australian Masters: ****Geoff Ogilvy** took a two-stroke lead after shooting
8-under 63 on his boyhood course at Victoria Golf Club Melbourne. Ogilvy was
at 13-under 200 to overtake England's **Ian Poulter** (69), the leader after
each of the first two rounds.
