How You Can Minimize Injuries While Playing A Physical Sport
When playing physical sports, you're at risk of getting yourself injured. No matter how careful you get, sometimes accidents do happen. However, there are certain things which you can do to keep injuries you might sustain to a minimum. And such can be done by knowing the rules, wearing protective gears and others.
Thanks to the rules, you know exactly which move will give you score, or which one will cause you to get penalized. But did you know rules can protect everyone from getting harmed as well? Take cycling as an example. Before the race, organizers need to check the bikes used to see if they meet standards. Be it Norco, Litespeed, Titus or Diamondback bikes, they're inspected to see that everyone plays fair and everyone's safe.
Prior to competing, it's necessary that your skill level is suitable for it. If not, then you're putting yourself to sustaining some very serious injuries. You don't compete in a triathlon if your endurance is not yet built for it. Award-winning athletes took so many years of training before reaching their current status. A personal trainer will help you achieve your top form for a particular sport.
Investing in high-quality protective gears is always a wise move. Each physical sport got its own set of protective gears. For instance, boxing has head guards, mouth guards, hand wraps, gloves, and cups. Or skateboarding has helmets, knee and elbow pads, and wrist and shin guards. They're designed to protect your body areas most vulnerable to injuries when competing.
One very important protective gear you should have is a helmet. There's a particular type of helmet exclusive for the sport you're playing. For instance, a baseball batting helmet is different than a kart racing helmet. Each one of them is engineered differently. Look for that label, print or sticker that says it passed tests and complies with high standards.
Never get into the field right away the moment you get to the venue. Such can only leave you highly susceptible to injuries. In your PE class, your teacher often asked you to do some stretchings before playing. That is warming up - a routine which increases the temperature of your muscles and their flexibility. Likewise, it also gets your body ready for the competition ahead.
While keeping your eyes on the prize, it's also important that you keep an eye on yourself. When you lose, there's always another chance. But when you sustain a severe injury, it may take lots of months before you can get back in the game. So put on your Pearl Izumi shorts or any proper attire, and your protective gears, and aim for victory with safety in mind.

Mountain bike gear round-up: WTB Volt XC saddle (Bike Radar)
American firm WTB were founded back in 1982 in California, fuelled by a desire
to create quality mountain bike products in a time where mountain biking was a
new and burgeoning sport. Today they produce tyres, wheels, grips and saddles,
and it’s a new addition to the latter which has just landed on our desk.
The new **Volt** saddle is primarily designed for cross-country racing but is
equally at home on the road. It features a pressure-relieving cut out on the
underside, plus a groove down the length of the saddle called the “Love
Channel”.
Four versions are available; the SLT and Team have titanium rails, while Pro
and Race have weight compromises with Nicro (a hollow alloy) and cromoly
(steel) rails respectively. Shown below, the Team (£89.99) is the second tier
Volt saddle and tipped our scales at 201g. It’s mostly covered in leather but
with Kevlar round the sides for protection.

**Endura**
Next up are a couple of products from Endura’s **MT500** range. We’ll kick it
off with the **Hooded Jacket** (£159.99) which, from a technical stand point
hasn't altered from the version we tested a couple of years ago. The ...
