Kickboxing Tips- Getting Ready For Your First Muay Thai Fight
Instructors of MMA in MD classes get a lot of students claiming they want to fight one day. It’s your fight amateur Muay Thai fight and you aren’t completely certain on how to prepare for it. Before you even begin the process of wanting to fight be positive that you can dedicate yourself 100% to the training. It is difficult for people to mentally prepare themselves. You don’t realize how much goes into it until you are in it. If you can survive the brutal training camp then you can survive any fight that comes your way. The length of your training camp to prepare for the fight will be determined by your fight date. Even though it is at the amateur level you have to treat it as if it is a professional level fight. The amateur fight record won't count at the professional level, but you'll be getting valuable experience to prepare you for the next level.
If you are in a 6-week training camp before your fight you’ll have to make serious sacrifices. The first sacrifice you’ll have to make will be toward you family and friends. You won't be sacrificing them permanently; however, you'll reach your goal quicker without distractions. Your entire diet will be changed to foods that aid and fuel the body. There are Baltimore women's fitness kickboxing students that go through the same preparation process.
When you get your mind right the Muay Thai training camp becomes easier. If you keep your mind strong your body can endure any type of training. You'll have to pump yourself up to finish the high level strength and conditioning portion of training camp. You’ll also be doing a lot of drilling to remember all the combinations. When training camp is finally over you'll be more than ready for your fight. The best fighters that get MMA training in MD are the best because of how they prepared to fight.
Is it normal for martial arts classes to make you feel highly stressed and like a failure?
I do kickboxing (muay thai style). I have approx 8 months experience.
Nearly every class I attend leaves me feeling emotionally stressed and hating myself. I do enjoy the stimulation, but I find it very hard to relax.
I also fear that I come off as arrogant and stupid, since few seem to want to talk to me.
Does anyone else feel like this?
I believe your stress and strong emotions are attributed to you trying to be a perfectionist in each class. You are expecting yourself to make each move perfect that you get disappointed when it's not good enough. If you executed each movement perfectly, you wouldn't need to go to class and "practice". I would say breathe, easy up, have fun, and stop being so critical on everything. Once you start enjoying your practice, you will see you abilities take off.
As for coming off arrogant and stupid, those around you definitely see how you stress out during practice. Who would want to be around someone like this? So again, I would say easy up, have fun, and stop being so critical on everything. When others see you not stressing out as before, you will become more approachable.
